Abstract

Gastritis and gastric ulcers are highly prevalent diseases among the Asian population. Patients approach for treatment only when disease related symptoms become severe.1 Treatment of gastric ulcers varies depending on the aetiology and clinical presentation. Acid suppression is the general pharmacologic principle of medical management of acute bleeding from a peptic ulcer, using histamine-2 receptor antagonists (H2RAs) and proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) and cytoprotective agents (antacids, sucralfate).2 All these agents are available in intravenous or oral preparations and their efficacy is well established. Gastric defensive factors play a much significant role in gastric disorders so there was a need for drugs to normalise the gastric mucosal constitution and other defensive mediators including cytoprotective prostaglandins and gastric microcirculation.

Abstract

The spray Pyrolyser experimental set-up has been automated for large scale production of nano metal oxides from naturally available resources. The independent operation of spray set-up has promoted cost effective nanotechnology in industries. The present system operates continuously to produce mass quantity of nano powder with controlled particle size and morphology. The stoichiometric compositions of precursor and operational parameters have been controlled. The proposed experimental set-up can be efficiently used for commercial production of different nano metal oxides in continuous manner. Industrial application testing of nano metal oxides developed employing the above method is under progress.

Abstract

Evaluating nutritional status by biochemical methods is a more objective and precise approach than the dietary methodology or clinical assessment methods. In recent years, nutritional surveys have seldom been conducted without the inclusion of biochemical estimations. The biological materials (blood/urine/faeces) used for biochemical estimations should be easily collectable, should be stable during transportation and should be unaffected by recent meals. Collection of blood or faeces or 24-hr sample of urine is difficult in a free living population and there are some obvious problems with the collection of random urine sample like size of sample, physical activity, time of collection etc. It leaves overnight or first void morning urine specimen, which would tend to standardize physical activity and liquid consumption prior to collection.
